Description

Feuling 7250 HP+ Reaper 405 Chain Drive Camchest Kit for Oil-Cooled M8 Models

The Feuling 7250 HP+ Reaper 405 Chain Drive Camchest Kit provides a complete, top-to-bottom camchest solution for oil-cooled Milwaukee-Eight (M8) engines. Feuling packages every required component under one part number to remove guesswork during ordering and installation.

Each component works together as a matched system to deliver maximum reliability, peak performance, and reduced engine and oil temperatures.

Performance & Oil System Improvements

This camchest kit improves engine operation by increasing oil pressure, scavenge volume, and overall oil flow. Riders experience quieter, smoother operation and more stable oil control across the RPM range.

Compared to stock systems, this kit delivers 27% more pressure and scavenge gear volume. Port sizing and matched passages increase scavenge volume by 42%, while oil delivery to the crankshaft and rod bearings increases by 68%.

Cooling & Real-World Test Results

Feuling testing shows consistent temperature and pressure improvements. Engines run 15–25 degrees cooler, while oil temperatures drop 15–30 degrees. Oil pressure increases by 10–30 PSI under normal operating conditions.

Rear-wheel testing on Milwaukee-Eight engines showed gains of 2 horsepower and 2 ft-lbs of torque. Testing also confirmed a 50% reduction in engine sump oil level, helping reduce wet sumping and blow-by.

Magnets integrated into the oil pump help protect gears and the pressure relief valve from debris.

HP+ Series Components

The HP+ Series kit includes a billet 6061 aluminum high-volume oil pump, Feuling High Flow camplate, HP+ hydraulic roller lifters, and a complete cam installation kit. Each part supports improved oil control and long-term durability.

Reaper 405 Camshaft Overview

The Reaper 405 cam delivers a wide and usable powerband with increased torque and horsepower throughout the RPM range. It installs as a direct bolt-in replacement for Milwaukee-Eight engines.

This cam works with stock valve springs, pushrods, lifters, and exhaust systems. It responds well to slip-on mufflers, full exhaust systems, and high-flow air cleaners. For best low-RPM power, Feuling recommends free-flowing mufflers with smaller cores.

Kit Contents

Each kit includes:

  • High-volume oil pump

  • High Flow billet camplate

  • Reaper Series camshaft

  • Hydraulic roller lifters

  • Fixed-length pushrods

  • TIMKEN®/KOYO® cam bearings

  • Rocker arm studs and nuts

  • Gaskets and O-rings

  • ARP® cam and crank fasteners

  • Washers, moly lube, and LOCTITE®

Oil Level Setup (Must Read)

Do not overfill the oil tank. Feuling recommends running the oil level 90–99% full when hot.

Because the M-Eight oil pickup sits on the right side of the engine, idling on the kickstand can fill the engine case and affect oil readings.

Proper Oil Level Procedure

  1. Check oil level cold

  2. Ride until the engine reaches operating temperature

  3. Shut the bike off while upright

  4. Place the bike on the kickstand and check oil level

  5. Adjust oil level as needed

Installation Requirements & Tuning

An experienced mechanic must install this kit using a factory service manual and proper tools. Measure flywheel pinion shaft runout and end play before installation.

Recommended specifications include 0.003”–0.004” end play and crankshaft runout at or below 0.003”. Excessive runout can cause failure and void the manufacturer’s warranty.

For best results, Feuling strongly recommends using a ThunderMax AutoTune system or a compatible aftermarket tuner.
